Fenton's Reagent

A biologist named H.J.H. Fenton discovered in 1894 that some metals have special oxygen transfer properties which improve the use of Hydrogen Peroxide, and that Iron has a stronger catalytic power to generate highly reactive hydroxyl radicals (.OH). He noted that these oxygen species augment the effects of the regular oxidation process. Since this discovery, the Iron-catalyzed, hydrogen peroxide has been called Fenton’s Reaction. With time, catalyzed oxidation came to be known as Advanced Oxidation.


Many years later it was identified that not only Iron salt, but other transition metal ions and their complexes in their lower oxidation states could reproduce the reactivity of Fenton's reagent. The different combinations of these metal compounds with H2O2 were named “Fenton-like” or “Modified Fenton”.


This advanced oxidation technology in the market is based on the Haber-Weiss principle of transitioning mineral catalyzed reactions for the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). In the formulation, the redox equilibrium is perpetuated by the catalytic activity of mineral-oxygen chelates that provide continued residual protection.


The advanced oxidation process of MINLOX™ can simultaneously lower total organic carbon and eliminate 6-log microbial contamination within seconds.


MINLOX™ is a modified Fenton-like chemistry not affected by pH; does not require in-situs activation from external catalysts; can be stored for months and provides long residual protection. 


These attributes make it a better choice than on-site and on-demand electrocatalytic, photocatalytic, sonocatalytic and chemical catalyzation of liquid oxidants, and a strong candidate for in-situs chemical oxidation (ISCO) for the treatment of contaminated soil.  


MINLOX™ is more economical, convenient, and superior than mixed oxidant solutions (MOS), catalyzed hydrogen peroxide (CHP) and other Fenton-like processes.

It is an alternate to chlorinated compounds without generation of  disinfection by-products and with extended residual protection. It destroys biofilm and can replace most water treatment oxidants with the benefit of also providing long-term reactivity.  MINLOX™ is a standalone better choice and will not affect the pH of the water, form scales, precipitations or create a corrosive environment.  


MINLOX™ is NSF/ANSI 60 certified, approved as a drinking water treatment product for oxidation, disinfection, biofilm control, scale and corrosion control, flocculant & coagulant aid, algicide & mollusicide, bactericide, well-cleaning aid, and membrane biocide.  Cleaning and protection up to 84 mg/Lt.  Its technology, is the first advanced oxidation, liquid compound certified EPA FIFRA 3(c)(5) as antimicrobial pesticide. 


It is very safe to use, does not need big capital investment or blue print, highly trained technicians or ongoing energy consumption.  In a nutshell, MINLOX™ will offer:
